Nick Clegg

Nick Clegg MP, Liberal Democrat Shadow Home Secretary is to visit Loughborough. He will speak to local activists at a dinner at The Quality Hotel, Ashby Rd, Loughborough at 7.30 pm 26th October. Nick is well known in the area as the former MEP for the East Midlands and we are very pleased to welcome him here again.

Nick was today speaking at the national conference about the scandal of people trafficking. "The Government should be ashamed of its failure to do more to tackle this evil practice." he commented. "People who are smuggled into this country must not be treated as criminals or illegal immigrants; instead they should be given the help they desperately need. Serious, sensible measures are needed if we are to make progress in solving this problem, the first step of which should be signing the European Convention on Action Against Trafficking in Human Beings."

The event is open to all Party members and guests. It is a sit-down 3-course meal, costing £20 per head. Interested parties should contact Steve Coltman, 14 Belvoir Drive, Loughborough, LE11 2SW (01509 268373).
