At the General Election in Loughborough on 5th May 2005, 46140 votes were cast (approximately 64% of the total number of eligible voters) with the following result:

Andy Reed (Labour): 19098 votes (-8.3%).

37.1%

Nicky Morgan (Conservative): 17102 votes (+1.8%).

Graeme Smith (Liberal Democrat): 8258 votes (+5.1%).

Bernard Sherratt (UK Independence Party): 1094 votes (+0.3%).

John McVay (Veritas): 588 votes (+1.3%).
